Cross Stitch Fabric Count Chart
Fabric count is the number of threads (or Aida squares) per inch. The table shows how many stitches you get per inch and how large 100 stitches works up. All values are calculated from the count.

Which count should I choose?
- 11 and 14 count Aida: big, easy-to-see holes. 14 count is the most common in kits.
- 16 and 18 count Aida: smaller, more detailed finish.
- 28 and 32 count evenweave or linen: usually stitched over two, giving the same size as 14 or 16 count Aida with a softer look.
Strands of floss
Many designers suggest 2 strands on 14 to 18 count Aida and 2 strands over two on 28 to 32 count, but follow your pattern's key. It is the authority for strands.
